Those coming to hand up to Saturday next will carry interest as from September S. Those coming to hand after that date will carry interest as from tho date upon which tne moneyis lodged to public account or with tho Post Office. After tho end ot this week fully-paid subscriptions only will be ac"subs'criptions to the Loan are still steadily flowing in,, particularly irom the remote country districts to .which Sir Joseph "Ward sent a special circular.
CITY COUNCIL INVEST jEoMO. The Wellington City Council decided last evening Siat XSOOO of Hie tramways and electric lighting accident fund be invested in war certificates. Tlie Mavor said that in consultation with tho Sinking Fund Commissioners it wi« found thai there was .£15,000 which could bo invested, and the Finance Commute* decided toinyert/""" o1 «•• tramway accident fund and .£IOOO of the lighting accident fund.
