POLA ATTACKED BY AIR SQUADRONS EFFECTIVE RAID ON AUSTRIA'S NAVAL BASE (Rec. September 6, 1.10 a.m.) London, September 5. ■ News has been received in London that the Italians luive captured Monte San Gabriclle.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. CADORNA OUTWITS THE AUSTRIANS Rome, Sep'tember 4. Tho "Corriere del Sera" states that several thousand Austrians were concealed in caverns in the Cargo, with instructions to- remain until the Italians had reached the third or fourth Austrian lines, and then to emerge and attack tho Italians in tho renr, catching them between two fires. General Cadorna, foreseeing this danger, dispatched a division for the initial attack, and held another in readiness to assail the emerging Austrians. The plan was successful, and several entire Austriau battalions were taken prisoner.-Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. BIG ITALIAN AIR RAID ON POLA London, September 4. An Italiau official report states: "A squadron of aeroplanes bombed the roilitarv works and tho fleet at l'ola Harbour, and the Fasana Canal, aud caused destructive fires."—Aus.-N.Z.
