MONTHLY 31EUTING. Messrs. C. E. Da nidi (chairman), M. Cohen, W. Cable, B. A. Wright, J. G. Cobbe, E. E. Sinclair, C. H'Arthur, J. G. Harknesa, J. W. M'Ewan, M. W. Welch, W. Wallis, A. M'Farlane, A. H. Hindmarsh were present at the monthly meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board, held Inst evening. Tlio financial etatement showed the following credits:—Current account, iU2,OGI 15s. ii.; imprest account; Is. 5d.; on fixed deposit, .£<iO,ooo. Tho payments were: —Accounts and wages, ss. id.; salaries for August, .£927 19s. 4d. The chairman reported: (1) That a start had been made with tihe erection of the temporary cheese store; the foundations have been put in and the materials are coming to hand satisfactorily. (2) That gates and fences have been erected at the entrance to tho export wharves; also a temporary guardroom for the accommodation , of the military guard. (3) That the executive ot tho Harbours Association has decided not to hold the seventh conference this year, but is pressing strongly on the attention of the Government tho important ques. Hon. of exemption of Government char, tared vessels from payment of dues. On the recommendation of the Wharves and Accounts Committee it woe decided to approve tho City Corporation's riass for a diving pier at Island Bay, subject to approval of Governor-in-Council, and subject to tho condition that tho corporation will, if called upon by the board, erect a lamp on the pier and maintain. an adequate light thereon.
