Hy Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, August 28._ The grain market is very quiet. _ No wheat is coming forward, although it i≤ known that a few lines are still held in the country. Oats are firm, but few aro available. There is a fair amount of business doing in oatsheaf chaff villi tlfe .North Island, and prices are unchanged. Orders have been coining in a little more freely from the North Island for potatoes. The fear that there would be a , rush of consignments through there Being more steamer accommodation on the coast has not keen realised, and northern buyer's are evidently operating with a little more- confidence. Prices aroa little firmer, and purchases cannot be made "below £2 15s. at country stations.
