THE TAXES BILL
SHOULD APPEAR NEXT WEEK. The House of Representatives will bs engaged for most of this week with the financial debate. Next week the Governmont will bring down the legislation cmbodying their financial proposals, and it is probable that they will all bo embodied in one Bill, as has been the case since the beginning of the war. Sir Joseph. Ward has always preferred since he has been - Treasurer to provide for all his taxes in one measure, and he will probably follow the same procedure this year. The next business of the Honso is likely to be the Liquor Bill, in which, the Government: will make their proposals to fho House for the early closing of public-house bars. When this Bill is out of the way the most important of the .remaining business for the session, will be Sir James Allen's Bill to amend tho present military pensions law. The Government has committed itself to an increase in the allowances to be paid to the dependants of soldiers, but legislation is'not necessary to legalise an increase in the allowances. This can be done by regulation, but it is probable that the provision which the Government intends to make will be mentioned when the Finance Bill is before tho House.
