The Navy Department announces that the American tank 6teanier Campana was sunk by a U-boat off Iledoore (?). Fifty-seven survivors were landed. THE LOST CITY OF ATHENS FIFTEEN PASSENGERS LOSE THEIR LIVES. New York, August 13. The State Department announces that fifteen passengers and fivo of the crew were lost when the American steamer City of Athena (560-1 tonB) sank, after striking a mine off Cape The passengers lost included four missionaries and an Englishman, _ Mr. Nuckworth, with his wife and 6ix children.—Aus.N.Z. PRISONERS OP WAR IN TURKEY NEGOTIATIONS BEING- CONSIDERED. London, August 13. ■In the. House of Commons, Mr. 1 " Hope said the .Government was giving attention to the question of conferring with Turkey regarding prisoners on similar lines to the recent conference at The Hague with Germany. Mr. Bonar Law said that the Crown Law officers had advised the Government that it was illegal for British subjects to confer with enemies without licence from the Crown.
