WELCOME TO MR. P. C. WEBB
A Labour meeting was held in tlw King's Theatre last evening to welcoim Mr. P. C. Webb aftcr-his period of incarceration for breach of the War 1? ebullitions. The hall was crowded in cverj part, and some i'cw people stood at Ik back of the auditorium lor Hie whole of the meeting. Mr. ,1. Glover presided. S'he most interesting part of the meetSg.' as it was 'the principal part of il, was that taken up by Mr. Webb in his address. Fe spoke in not unfamiliar strain of such matters near to his heart as tho; cost of living, and the paltry wages of 'the, workers, but he avoided dangerous topics. "I wanktolfinisb this session of Parliament if I can," lie said in explanation of his carefulness, and he-smiled-broadly tho while. Ho was really interesting in his recital of his experiences in gaol, and his condemnation of parts of the prison system was apparently well enough grounded. The meeting ended with cheers for Mr, Webb.
