Sir,—l notice In this morning's Dominion n letjter from "Cigarette Smolcer" under the heading of "Increased Taxes." "Cigarette Sniok'er" has evidently misunderstood what he has read. 'Hie incrensed taxation on cigarettes is ss. per 1000, not Is., as stated by him. ''Ml" wholaWp hons!"; recently nnssed to the retailer an increase of Is. per 1(100 for cigarettes, which, I understand. had boon charged to them. This is what "Cienrette Smoker" must have rend. Tie will see by this thnt the retailer is now paying Gs. per 1000 more than formerly, and is therefore making an additional profit of 2s. M.. not 7s. 4d.. per 1000, by charging 7d. per packet of ten.
