NATIVE WOMAN BURNED TO DEATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, August 9. \t Tolaga Bay, Heini Bangi, a Native woman, aged 100 years, was burned to death. Deceased had been in the habit of sleeping in a tent,. and was left with a candle burning. Next morning the charred remains of the tent were found, and the woman's body lying just beyond the circle of fire. CHILD DROWNED IN MUD TANK. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, August 9. Lan Douglas, aged two years, met his Heath to-day by falling into a mud tank at South Dunedin. Apparently the grating over the mud tank collapsed and tho child fell in. He was dead when taken out. Robert Linde, a member of the Municipal T?ire Brigade, met with a painful accident at the Central Station yesterday. As one of the big fire engines was bein" backed into the yard his foot was caught under 'the wheel and rather badly crushed. The unfortunate man was 'taken to the Hospital at once.
