BOOKMAKER FINED
BETTING ON LICENSED PREMISES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, August 9. At tho Police Court, William Ryan, a bookmaker, was fined £100 for betting on licensed premises. Mr. Fraser, S.M., Baid that where a bookmaker had a reputation for honesty and square dealing he did not believe in imposing imprisonment. The defendant, . however, had got to. the stage when he must expect to be fined tho maximum fvery time he was caught.
