THE WEATHER
FORECAST AND SUMMARY AT 4 P.M. YESTERDAY. Present indications aro lor south-easterly winds gcnorally, strong to galo northwards of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and freshening soon elsewhere. Further boisterous weather and heavy rain may bo expected in tho northern and East Coast districts of the North Island, and may extend to Cook Strait and tho north-east districts of tho south, with increasing cloudiness generally. Barometer lias a falling tendency. Storms havo raged in the far north today, and rain has also fallen along tho East Coast of the North Island. Elsewhere cool and changeable conditions havo ruled. Easterly gales havo prevailed north of Now Plymouth and Napier, anu moderato to strong easterly and southeasterly winds elsewhere.
