Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, Palmerston North, report having a, very good yarding of sheep and a small entry of cattle at their Feildiog sale on Friday, July 27. There was,a keen demand for the better class of hoggets, but ewes iu lamb did not meet with keen competition. Small hoggets, 16s. 6d. to 19s. 7d.; fair hoggets, 20s. to 22s.;'igood hoggets, 235. to 235. 6d.; best hoggets, 275. to 275. lCd.; mixed-aged ewes in lamb, 245. 6d.; light fat ewes, 295. 6d.; dairy heifers. £8 ss. to £8 17s-6d.; empty heifers, £8 17s. 6d. Messrs. Abraham and Williams. Ltd., Palmer6ton North, report:—At Palmerston North, ou July 26, we had a moderate entry of stock. There was not quite as good a demand as usual, consequently prices were slightly easier than those ruling of late. Good forward cows brought from £9 15s. to £10 55.; fresh-conditioned cows, £8 2s. 6d. to £8 155.; dairy cows (poor), £9 to £9 155.; small dairy heifers, £6, to £8 10s.; store cows, £6 7s. to £7 55.; .yearling heifers, £3 17s. 6d. to £4: poor yearling steers, £2 18s. to £3 65.; s.m. ewes in lamb, 295. 6d.; f.ni. ewes in lamb. 265.; f.m. empty ewes, 12s. to 17s. 6d.; oull ewes, 125.; fat hoggets, 235. 6d.; small mixed hoggets, 15s. to 16s. 6d. At Feilding on July 27 we had an average yarding of stock. Cattle were in good demand, and .sold fairly well. Sheep were slack, and prices were muoh easier than at previous sales, although a fair proportion changed hands. Fat wethers brought 395. Id.; forward owes and wethers (mixed). 30s. 2d.; forward hoggets, 235. 2d. to 245. 9d.; medium ditto. 20s. to 20s. 6d.; store hoggets, 17s. 4d. to 17s. 9d.; cull ditto, 13s. 10d.; fat cows, £13 ss. to £14; forward cows. £8 Bs. to £9 10s.; store cows, £7 to £7 18s.; small ditto, £6 to £6 65.; cows and calves. £9 165.; store hoifeis, £6 to £7 lis.; two-year steers. £9 165.; dairy cows. £8 15s. to £13; springing heifers, £7 ss. to £9 155.; mixed Shorthorn cross yearlings, £5. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. reports:—On Tuesday, in conjunction with Messrs. Levin and Co., wo held a sale of dairy stock on account Mr. B. H. Slack. Glen Oroua. There was an exceptionally largo attendance, and, tho cows being a good lot, competitiou was good throughout. Tho ten purebred Shorthorn cows made the satisfactory average of 24 and one-tenth guineas, while tho balance of the herd. 41 in number, made the highest avcrago of £14 10s.; p.b. S.TJ. cows, 12, 14, 19. 24; 36. 40. 43 guineas; best dairy cows, £18. £19, £10 10s.. £20. £21. £22; p.b. heifers, 10' to 15 guineas; springing heifers, £8, £9 55., £10 55.. £11. £12 10s.; yearling S.H. bull. £11: two-year S.H. bull. £16. Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co.. Ltd., report hayiiiK held a. clcarinc sale ot dairy and store stock at Makatro on Thursday on account, of Mr. K. Forster. The herd, of cows submitted hold a. good factory record, but lack of condition had the effect, of causing buyers to limit their values, and consequently prices were not. up to the other sales recorded. However, tho average realised per head was £10 As. 6d., cows sellinc from £8 12s. 6d. to £13. -All. the dry stock a.nd sundries demanded keen competition.- a.nd sold exceptionally well.
