Advice has been leceived ..by private cablegram that, Lieutenant P. E. Greenish. N.Z.R.8.. has obtained' his captaincy. Captain Greenish was recently awarded the Military Cross, and prior to the war was a. partner ill the firm of lieere and Greenish, architects. Captain (temp.) 3rd (Auckland) Reginiont, lias been appointed Acting Brigade Major (temp.) to the Auckland Infantry Brigade, and ■ Lieutenant G. 11. Woolley, another officer of the same regiment, the Assistant Sfusketry Instructor in the' N.Z.E.F. training camps.

Mr. W. Dutliic, of the firm of John Duthio and Co.. and Air. Godfrey Magnus, of tho firm of Magnus, Sanderson and Co., have returned from* abroad.

News has been received that Lieutenant W. B. t'itclielt, Ist Auckland Infantry Battalion, son of Dr. Fitchett, Public Trustee, lias been transferred to Battalion Headquarters and given the post of Sniping Intelligence Officer, in charge of 30 snipers anil scouts, the picked men of the battalion. Lieutenant Fitchett left New Zealand with the Auckland Mounted Rifles (Main Body), and won his 'stripes on Gallipoli. He was invalided home in December, 1915, and returned'to .Egypt in February of the following year. In April he volunteered to go to France, where, six weeks later-, he was promoted to be second lieutenant. He commanded a platoon through; the engagements at Arinentieres, the Somme (where he was slightly wounded), and Messinos. In the performance of his new duties recently he was gassed. " Private advice was' received in Wellington yesterday that Lieutenant George M'Lean Wilt'ord. son of Ml 1 . T. M. G ilford M.P., has been promoted to a captaincy. Captain Wilt'ord left New Zealand with the Maiii Body of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Advice lias been received in Wellington that Sergeant Fergus Galvfii (fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Galvin, of llataitai) died of wouinds in France on July 16. The deceased, who was 25 years of age, was educated at the Terrace School and Wellington College, and then joined the staff of the Union Bank of Australia in Wellington ill .1309, anil was in the service of that corporation when he went to Samoa as a member of the* Expeditionary Force in August, 1914.
