THE TURF
NOTES AND COMMENTS IBi Glknooh.l After all there is a probability of tlie Otaki Club holding a two days' meeting in the spring, and making the June fixture a one-day affair. The committee was at lirst against the idea, but on it being pointed out to them that a spring fixture had great prospects of being a record gathering, a meeting was convened, to be held to-day, and it is probable that the former decision will be rescinded. The trainers' ball, held at Hastings last Wednesday, was a huge success, and it is expected that the Red Cross Funds will benefit considerably. T. Quinlivan was chairman of the committee, and Ken Quinlivan was secretary. The catering was in charge of A. Ellingliam. Included in the llighden team at Awapuni is a half-brother by Field Battery to the "crack Sydney pony performer Briseis. This horse will raco as Turpenite, and on looks ho should turn out good. G.
