DESIRE TO HAVE DEMONSTRATION: PREVENTED. . By Telegraph—Press Association. Greymouth, July 26. The Borough Council, at its meeting to-night, passed tho folloying motion:--"That tho council requests the Minister of Defence to use his power under the Defence of the Realm Act to prevent, public demonstrations of welcome or pro... cessions in the public etreets of Hue. town to persons who have been convicted. - of sedition, and that a copy of this resolution be telegraphed to Sir James Allen and Mr. Massey in the moriuug. . Two councillors dissented from the motion. Those who supported it spoke strongly against the attempt to create the impression that tho citizens of Greymouth would extend a welcome to V C Webb. The speakers emphatically did. it would not be a citizens ,^ elcome, and did not wish any such.ide* to Uβ spread throughout the Dominion.*
