MILK BELOW THE STANDARD

Alter hearing the evidence, tno lUagistrate reserved nis decision. ALr. V. it. Alereditn prosecuted. Tue ivarori Mills. Supply Company, Ltd., for whom Air. Ai. iilyers also appeared, pleaded guilty ,to/ selling mine ueiow the standard, and/ evidence was tendered to snow tue circumstances under which the water whs added to the milk. It arose through one of the company's servants, wlio had been tipping milk from large cans into small service cans, not tipping from one of tho small cans the water with which lie had been cleaning the cans. He placed a 6trainer oyer each of the cans and poured the milk in, forgetting that in the last can which he had cleaned he had not removed the water. It was shown that when the inspector asked for the sample from the delivery cart one of the members of the firm who was in charge of the. cart pointed out to the inspector the very can in which the water happened to be, and invited him to take a sample from that can. Evidence of these facts was given in mitigation of the penalty. The Magistrate reserved his decision.
