NOTES AND COMMENTS ißi Glencoe.l It would appear that tho owners of Fisher and Gluepot, two prominent jumpers, bad no intontion of racing their horses at Trontham. as they were onls entered for one race. Both horses are likely to.be seen out at Eiocarton next month, and while Fisher does not appeal as likely to be seen to advantage over tho stout fences at. Blccarton tho reverse is the case with Gluepot, who is a perfect jumper. ' After racing at Trentham, Gold Painting again developed symptoms of lameness, and though a rider has been engaged for the Boniform mare in tho Winter Cup. P. Lind may be unable to get her to the post. ■ The champion steeplechaser, El Gallo, had a big kneo when he went out to contest the July Steeplechase at tho Wellington Meeting, but up ■ to tho fence over which Mawson fell, bringing down the top-weight, tho knee did not seem to bo troubling him. The doubtful joint that has troubled Precious Metal since the Otaki Meeting gave way at Trentham, and on his return to Porlrua tho chestnut gelding was turned out. San Sebastian, winner of two hack hurdle races at the local meeting, is not engaged in the National Hurdles, but the highly-bred Ohokeboro cast-oil will bo given a race it tho Trial Hurdles run on tho same day as the big race. For running unplaced at Fleralngton, the Yaldhurst-owned Tim Doolan has been dropped 101b. in the Australian Steeplechase to be decided at Oaulfield nest month. Waiuuii, list. 111b., has gono up flb. for running third at Flemington. The failures of Johnny Walker and Raumamjwhtrl at Trentham have caused their stock to slump in tho Winter Oup. Parisian Diamond, who was not produced aj, the Wellington Meeting owing to striking himself, is now first choice for the Winter Oup. At Bllorslie the last-named defeated Kanri King whon l'n vcoeipt of 41b., and as tho latter has won several races since his form naturally draws attention to tho chances of Parisian Diamond ' at Eiocarton. Deports from Hastings state that T. F. Quinlivan's two yearlings by Athenic from Persois and Culprit respectively, are doing well, and are showing exceptional promise as galloDors.. Athnnio, by Traquair. sire of Ventura, and Traquctte. from Culprit, winner of many sprint, races in this country, should mea_n plenty of paco for tho youngsters so bred. It is not often that tho first, secona, and third favouriteß in a' raoe till the positions in tho order thoj aire" Backed, but this was tho ease in the Grand National Steepleohnse run at Fleminßton on Saturday last. The Cup that chcera New Zealand, is ft cup of Desert Gold, tho Queen of Teas. Unsurpassed for delicious flavour, and the 2s. grade is Iho best value in tie world. Ask for if. and have no other.--Advt. Wore economical than cough mixtures or syinps is NAZOL. Eighteenpence buys sixty doses—more than three a penny. No cold is NAZOL-proof.—Advt.
