THE BUTTER-FAT TAX
Sir,—l observe that a few of our t<wn members of Parliament arc still unconvinced of the injustice of the butter-fat tax. Let me give an example of its incidence, particulars of which I can vouch for, and there are many such. A sturdy old couple, neighbours of mine, whose family have all grown up and left the parental roof, and whs are entitled to the old-age pension, .but don't claim it, prefer to maintain themselves and their independence upon a sma'.i lease in perpetuity by milking.a few cows end keeping a. pig or two and fowls.
