London should have some special houite accommodation in the vast metropolis. There is absolutely no place they can go- to where they will be among their ow.n jieople. At a time like this, when so many oi our girls are in .London, something! should be done to start a hostel or ijhib for women. The soldiers are all being well looked after, but what of the ivolnen doing war work ? Board is most expensive in England at present • and hard to find. in congenial surroundings. The Australian papers are talking of a hostel' in London for Australian women, why not one for Hiew Zealanders? The female rabbiter is not much heard of, the work bei;ug of too strenuous a nature for most women to face. But the Oamaru "Mail" has heard of cne in North OtagOj.and,, what is .more,-she has' reached an age of about three score years. She has courageously adopted the toilsome occupation in order to supplement "her income from keeping and milking a few cows and feeding pigs. She regularly 6ets her traps -where rabbits are to be caught, and this means a good tramp daily in, rough country, but the reward derived fronuher courageous toiling is said to he> very encouraging. Lady Ward and. Mrs. Bernard Wood left for Christchurch at the erjd of last ;week. The wedding took place in the Pitt Street Methodist Church, Auckland, on July 14 of Staff-Sergeant-Major Claude •Williams and Miss Violet Williamson, of Avondale, late of Ponsonby.
