Tho Third Military Service Board dealt with a. fresh list of appeals yesterday. Mr. Jl. ,[. lieswick presided, and tho other members of the board are Messrs. M.'-J. Mack and A. O'L. Considine. Captain P. Baldwin is the niilitajy representative.

William A. Collett, coaelibuilder, Lower TTutt, appealed on the ground that difficulty would be experienced in carrying on the industry if he. were- taken. Leave till August 22 wa.s granted. Two months' exemption wa? sought by John Croft, an engineer in tho t'inploy of tho Gear Meat Company. Leave till August 22 was granted. Leave till July 21 was granted Edward H. Godwin, accountant, 10 Kensington Street.

Edward T. J. Colcman, plumber, Hataitai, was appealed for by his employers. Tho appeal was based on tho iinportanco of .sanitary plumbing and tho shortago of plumbers. It was said tliat the master plumbers had protested against the "continual conscription" of men engaged in the class of work under consideration. The military representative observed that the Health Department did not support the master plumbers' view. The appeal was dismiss, ed, and leave till .August 22 was agreed to. Charles Percy Cake, market gardener, Lower Hutt, appealed on the ground that undue hardship would be inflicted on his parents. Tho case was adjourned sino die. Thomas Alfred Sanders, carpenter and joiner, 107 Abel Smith, Street, Wellington, appealed, and said that after having been turned down as a voluntary recruit ho had married. Ho now asked for a few months' leave. Tho board decided to give him leave till November, and formally stood tho case over until a report is received respecting financial aid. Peter Douglas, bootmaker, 45 Adelaide Road, asked for a week's leave from camp, and this was granted. Thomas William Bearup, a wirelose operator, was appealed for on the ground that he was an Australian; and therefore not a reservist. The appeal was adjourned for a month to give Bearup an opportunity of making a declaration as to his domicile.'

Albert B. Lerwill, gasfitter, Lower Hutt, gave as his ground of appeal that ho was looking after a delicate sister. Ho sought an extension of time to make provision for his sister by establishing her on a small poultry farm. Leave till September 19 was given. Respecting Harold Edwin Worboys, farmer, Paraparaumu, it was stated that tho appellant hnd failed to pass tho medical test, and the board adjourned hie appeal sine die. Tho Railway 'Department had lodged an appeal for William Arthur Higgins, a railway cleaner and acting-fireman, Now Plymouth. The appeal, however, was withdrawn.

John JE'Clew, tramway motormari, 94 Constable Street, Wellington, appealed for family reasons. His case was adjourned till the first sitting of the board in November.

An appeal /by James Alexander Nicholson, farm manager, 3 Tninui Terrace, was adjourned till to-mofrow, pending the receint of medical information. John Jackson, carrier, 24 Windsor Place, Wellington, asked for time to wind up business. He had already had a month's leave, and he was told he would have to go to camp on July 2C. Frank O'Connor, clerk in tho Land and Deeds Office, was appealed for by the head of his Department, who ea.id that the Department could .not efficiently carry on with any less men. O'Connor himself asked to bo allowed to remain behind till the end of the First Division. This lie asked in fairness to his parents, whose other three sons were at the front. The care was adjourned for three months, when it will be reconsidered.

George Holcxoft, brick setter, Silverstream, was appealed for by his employer, who said that a month's extension of time was desired. Leave till August 22 was allowed.
