MYSTERIOUSLY INJURED
RETURNED- SOLDIER IN PRECARIOUS, CONDITION. By Tclegrapn—Press Association. /, Hamilton, July 9. A mysterious affair is reported from Frankton, in/which a returned soldier named Tliomis Henderson was seriously injured. ThV police were communicated with yester&y afternoon, and found a young man /lying in Tapp's stables suffering gred pain. Ho was removed to the Wnikqto Hospital, and when examined a wo/ind was found in his left side under th« lower rib, three inohes deep, and pene'rating to the lung.. The man's depositions were taken. He stated his address as Selwyn Street, Onehunga. He' arrived in the district a few weeks ago from Palmerston North. He had been drinking, and was unable to account for the pound. An examination of his clothing showed a round hole through his singlet, but no corresponding hole wasfound in either vest, shirt, or.coat, indicating that lie was not wearing those garments when the wound \ras inflicted. An operation was performed on the man, wlo is in a precarious condition.
