ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL REPORT. The N.Z. Football Association, in its annual report, states:—

"There is very little football now played in New Zealand outside of tho four centres, but tho game is continuing to niako most oxccllent progress amongst all juniors and schoolboy players. This is most encouraging, and must undoubtedly lay tho foundation of considerable strength in tho future. Until after tho war no senior representative matches will bo played, but a. few schoolboys' representatives and other boys' games are being played between tho various centres, and these aro undoubtedly helping to stimulate interest in tho game. Tho standard of play amongst the lower grades ie undoubtedly steadily improving, and thus the wholo status of the gamo should be much ahead when It becomes possible to play saaior competitions again: In foci, many of our best boy players throughout the Dominion may then nil scnioi , positions -with, considerable credit, Though not possible to say mnch at present, the association lias reason to believe that the visits of oversea teams will bo greatly onoouraged nfter tlio war. Tho association wisheß to place, on record its keen appreciation of the many hundreds ot Association players who are now representing their Kins and country, and its regrets at tlio number of very ftno men who will never return. It was unnecessary to hold any meetings of the council during the past season.
