- Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile 'Agency Co., Ltd., report on Thursday having held, in conjunction with the Associated Auctioneers, the annual sale of pedigree cattle, on the showgrounds, Palmereton North. Our entry, they report, comprised seventeen head—7 • milking Shorthorn bulls, 4 Jereey bulls, and 6 Fricslan cows. Of these we dieposed of 13 head at prices satisfactory to the vendors, with the exception of Jerseys, which vfero somewhat neglected. We quote, on account of Mr. William Brady, Woodvillo:—One milking Shorthorn bull, at'6sgne. On account Mr. J. T. Stringer, W»ikanae:-one yearling milking Shorthorn bull, at 22}gns.; 2 yearling milking Shortliorn bulls, at 20gnB. On account Mr. William Bevan, Jlanakau:—One pedigree Frieslan'cow, at 31gns.; 1 pedigreo Frieslan cow, at 30*gn8.; 2 pedigree Friesian cows, at 27gns.; 1 pedigreo Friesian cow, at 26gns.; 1 pedigree Friesian cow (weak in quarter), at 17ens. On account Mr. A. Hodgklnson, Takaka, Nelson:—Two 20month Jersey bulls, at lljgns.; 1 20-month Jersey bull, at 10 gns.

Oompetitiou for sheep ehowed an improvement on late sales, and we had a total clearance with tho excenilon of one pen of cattle. Prices were slightly better than at recent Bales, and with tho exception of one small pen of lambs wo had a total clearance at the following prices :—10 4 and 5-year ewes, in lamb to H. rams (extra good), sold on behalf of tho Pntriotio Society, made £2 12s. 6d.; fat ewes (light). 275. 6d., 295. 6d., to 31s. Competition was very slaok and very few pens of sheep were sold, tboncli cattlp sold fnirly well.
