itONEr MAHKET. The Bank of England discount rate was on January 2, 1914, reduced Irom 5 to *i per cent., on January 22 it was reduced to 4 per cent,, and on January 23 3 per cent. On July 30 the rate was raised to 4 per cent., and on July 31 It was ratted to 8 per cent., and on August 1 it was further adTanced to 10 per cont. On Aueust 6 tho rate waa reduced to 6 jer cent., on August 7 it was further reduced to 5 per cent., on July 13. 1916. it was raised to o ocr cent., on January 12, 1917, it was reduced to 55 per cent., and on April 5 it was further reduced to 5 per cent,

'The open market discount rate for three mouths' bill is 45 per. cent., as compared with 4j per cent, last week, and 4 9-16 per cent, last year. ■ Short loans are Quoted at 4 3-8 per cent., as against 4 3-8 per cent, last week and 4 per cent, last year.
