EEMITS FOR DOMINION CONFER

The committee of the Wellington Second Division League met last evening, Mr. B. A. Armstrong presiding. Letters wero read from Westport, Masierton, Otaki, Ohau, and Napier with reference to branches uoiv: in course of formation. Kenuts for the approaching Dominion conference were discussed, and it was decided to submit the following drafts to a general meeting of members of the Wellington League for approval:— That the following alterations, be made to tho scale of pensions and allowances: Separation Allowances.—Wife and (or) i)U sole dependants each, 4s. per day; first child, Is. 6d. per day; second child, Is. Id. per day; each subsequent child, 9d. per day; each motherless child, 'M. 2d. per day (payable to person or persons in charge of motherless child); deferred pay mado over to dependants to Hβ inalionable in the event of punishment of the soldier for misconduct.

Pensions (on death of soldier).—Widow, •with child or children, £2 9s. per week; n-idow without children, and (or) each sole dependant, £2 per week; each chili!, 103. 6d. per wfiek; each motherless child, 15s. 2d. por week; pensions to be paid to male children up to the ago of sixteen years, and to female children up to the age of twenty years. Pensions (on. disablement of soldier).— Tho British scheme to bo adopted (including fiat wlcs according to injury and disablement), augmented where necessary in accordance with tho difference in. rates of wages paid in normal times in New Zealand and Britain.

That tho Government bo requested to provide such, competent control of the cost of living as will ensoro the protection of pensions and allowances from being at any future time rendered inadequate by tho operations of thoso seeking private profit out of tbo necessaries of life.

That tho Stato should provide a legal Tepresentativo to' conduct the cases of appellants beforo tho military serviceboards. ■

That' provision, bo made- by tho Government for tho recording of tho votes of all Eoldier/afc home or abroad at all general elections and referenda on all satdonal questions submitted to tho people for decision by popular voto. That tho State should provide free medical attendanco for tho dependants of soldier's.

That tho Government bo requested lo provide tho necessary machinery for completing tho medical examination of each class of tho Second Division at least one month before the ballot of such class is taken.

That tho medical examination bo made the deciding factor as to the liability of the State, so that if a man is passed ns physically fit by the examining medical board tho State shall tafco full responsibility from tho moment of his parading for entry into camp, and that on the event of his death or disablement by disease- cv by accident (when on leave included) he and his dependants shall be entitled to the same pensions and allowances as if tho death or disablement " a « occurred on active service, or had resulted from his employment as a member of the Expeditionary Forces.
