FACTORY MANAGERS' ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING. By Telegraph—Special Reporter. Palmerston North. Juno 20. The annual meeting of tho New Zealand Factory Manngers' Association was hold at tho Show Grounds to-night. Mr. J. Murray presided. The annual report stated that tho managers who last season had experienced tho shortage and poor class of labour had had tho war brought home to Diem, and the quality of New Zealand cheese had boon maintained by the ' strenuous work and strict supervision of ■ the .managers. It hurt been impossible this year to carry out tho suggestion to hold periodical, meetings at various 1 centres. A number of members were at tho front, and all wished them Godspeed and a safe return. A number of new members had been enrolled during the year, especially from Auckland and Waikato. .-There was a credit kalauco of J!l3 IDs. . The report and the'balance-sheet were adopted. It was staled that about thirty members had not paid thoir subscriptions. ■ The. baity Commissioner, Mr. 1). Cuddie, attended, and congratulated the managers who wero exhibiting at the show on tho oxcellonco of their exhibits. The butter ,was so uniform that it might all havo been mado in the ono factory. BANK OF NEW SOUTH WALES The balance-sheet of tho Bank of New South Wales for the half-year ended March 31 last, dotaihs of which appeared in our columns yesterday morning Ehows that during tho period the bank earned a net profit of £279,050 9s. 9d„ and there was brought forward from tho prorioua halfyear £105,241 16s. lid., making a total of £384,292 6s. Bd. Tho quarterly dividend at the rate of 10 per cent, por annum paid in February labt absorbed £97,090, and a further similar dividend for tho March quarter absorbs £97,374 103.; tho sum of £75.000 is added to tho reserve fund, leaving 1 £114,827 16s. Bd. to be carried forward. Tho reserve fund now stands at £2,800,000. In reviewing the figures at- the annual meeting of sharholders tho chairman, the Hon. Sir Charlos K. MacKcllar said:—"lnvestments are higher by £4,450,000 than they were three years ago, and by nearly £2,200,000 on the year. This is, of course, caused by our participation in the British war loans, and in tho Commonwealth and New Zealand war loans at this- end. In jontributing through onr investments to the lighting resources of the Empiro on the financial side, we ho-vo necessarily kept in view tho supremo importance of a proper balance of financial assistance to tho producing interests of tho country ou which tho prosporlty of our people as a ivhole depends, and, therefore, their sapacity to copo with tho heavy financial load tho war has thrust upon us. "Tho aggregate of what wo view as our first lino assets is now' Bomowhat over £28,000,000, as compared with £24,000,000 three years ago. This means that nearly the whole of tho increase in our deposits has been utilised in this section of our assets.
