Tho National Dairy Show will open 'hero to-morrow, and it is considered thnt given good weather, the fixturo-will bo a. hig success.. There is an excellent exhibit of dairy produce,- and tho results of tho competitions- in this department -are available. The.butter competitions woro woa anfl lost on tho flavour quality. Points were allotted for flavour, body, colour, salting, and finish. In all but flavour tho factories scored the samo number, of. points almost all through., BUTTER AWAKDS. Island factories was won by tho Island Dairy Co. The points' prize was won by Dalefield. - STATEMENT BY THE JUDGES. The members of tho Government Dairy Division who judged tho cheeso made tho following statement'"lt is very pleasiuf to note that the number of exhibits in. these classes are more numerous than at tho last % Winter Show. Several entries oame from as far south, as Southland, while the Auokland province was well represented. The quality of the cheese, generally speaking, is very good, and compares very idvourably with that exhibited at other shows held recently, but the finish in some classes could be considerably improved. Tho winning exhibits are of excellent quality, and reflect great credit on the makers, but others lose points in body apd texture owing to being weak and open. Tho general appearance is not so good as usual," some of the cheese showing a considerable growth of mould."
