ROYAL INVESTITURE OF WAR HONOURS
London, June 18. There wero affecting scenes at the King's investiture of war honours at Newcastle. At midday, after attending a service- in' the Cathedral, fifty thousand people assembled in the football ground. Several widows, with infant sons clinging to their skirts, received decorations. A young widow fainted after' receiving her husband's Military Medal. Others wept. One hundred and twenty people were decorated. After tho investiture of war honours at Newcastle-on-Tyne, the King and Queen travelled by motor-launch down the Tyne, oscorted by aeroplanes and submarines. Their Majesties conversed with workers at the dock, at which the HamburgAmerika Prinz Adalbert (which wiis seized at Ealmouth) is lying. ,
Tho King sent the following message to tho Lord Mayor of Newcastle:—"The loyalty and fortitude of the industrial army fills me 'with courago and fidence. I am convinced, under God's guidance, it will help us to victory.'"— Aus.-N.Z. Gable Assn.
