THE COAL MINES
SEVERAL AGREEMENTS MADE. Fairly good progress has been made towards settlement of all the troubles winch threatened at the coal mines all over the Dominion a few weeks ago. When the conference dispersed without result, the employers announced that the otter winch the union delegates rejected would bo left open for a, time at least to _ the unions individually. Several unions have accepted' tho offer, and agreements have been, concluded at a number of mines. Already the unions at the following mines have settled on tho terms offered by tho mine-owners at tho conference:—Taupiri, Pukemiro. Waipa, Denmston and Millerton, WostportStockton, Paparoa, and Kaitangata. Tho important mines not included in this list are: Blackball, State, Green Island, Aightcaps, Br.-vjner. «,nd Puponga. Late information as to the progress of events at all of these latter mines is not available, but it may be- said that settlements are pending at some of them.
