WOMAN'S WORLD
(Continued from page 2.) WOMEN'S RED CROSS MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Wellington Women's Red Cross Committee was held in the depot in Mercer Street yesterday morning. Tho president (Mrs. J. P. Luke) occupied the chair, and there were present: Mesdames Salmond, Mackenzie, Moore, Rountree, Shirtcliffe, Barltrop, Rose, L. Blundell, Findlay, Morison, Seaton, Moorhouse, Elliott, Myers, Purdy, W. Nathan, Kirker, Firth (hon. treasurer), and Miss Sybil Nathan (hon. Fscretary). Apologies were received from Mrs. Joseph, Miss Coates, Mrs. Pearce, and Mrs. WUford.
A letter was read to the meeting from the Officer Commanding, Victoria Military Ward, to the effect that bed cradles and bed tables were badly needed, and asking if the committee could help in the matter. It was resolved that assistance should be given, and the suggestion was made that if the committee supplied the material the soldiers at the Lowry Bay Convalescent Hospital might be asked to make the cradles.
A letter from the secretary of the National Council of the Y.M.C.A. was read to the meeting, in which the committee was advised that permission' had been rereived from the Government to show the war films of the "Battle of the Ancre
and tho Advance of tho Tanks" next week in the Town Hall, and asking if four ushers could bo provided for Monday and Wednesday evenings; also if the committee would assist in the matter of selling tickets. The proceeds of tho film displays were to go to three funds, that of tho Eed Cross, the Y.M.C.A. Trench Comforts Funds, and Funds for Sick and Wounded Returned Soldiers in Hospital and Convalescent Hc-me3. It was decided that ushers would be provided for the nights asked for, and assistance would bo given in tho matter of selling tickets..
An interesting letter had been received from Chaplain-Major Greene, Southamp. ton Road, London, in which he gavo a list of what had been received from January 9 to March 7 from New Zealand, and also what had been dispatched in that time to the various hospitals. During those months he had received 200 cases of- gift goods, and these had been sent to No. 2, New Zealand General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames; No. 3, New Zealand General Hospital, Codford; New Zealand Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch; No. 1, New Zealand Stationary Hospital, Amiens; and the New Zealand Division Rest Hospital, France. Out of these 200 cases only three were kept in etoro and not distributed. ChaplainMajor Greene thought that the knowledge of the use to which these goods were being put and of their great valne would be very encouraging to those who had been 60 earnestly labouring on behalf of our New Zealand troops.
