DEATH IN A TRAMCAR
INQUEST ON BUIU3OROTJGH. An inquest was held yesterday morning by Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., concerning tho death of John Thomas Burborough, a tram conductor, who died suddenly in a tramcar early on Monday morning. Burborough, whilo coming down Willis Street, saw a tramcar standing opposite Mercer Street, and raced along to catch it. He was seen coming by tho motorman. who held the car till the man got on board. By tho time tho car reached Stewart Dawson's corner Burborough had collapsed. Ho was taken on tho car to the Lambton Quay- Tolice Station, and by tho time ho was carried into tho station life was extinct. Dr. Fylle, who made a post-mortem examination, stated that tho deceased had suffered from hydatids on the liver, and the heart was in a diseased condition. Running to catch the "car caused heart failure. It was stated in evidence that Burborough, who was 26 years of aso. and married, was a Toturned soldier, and was not in good health. A verdict was returned that death was duo to syncope.
