The ammal report of Hie Victoria Bowling Club states that the total receipts for the year were .£339 9s. 2<1., and tho total expenditure Us., the debit balance being ,£9O 19s. Id., an increase on last year's amount of ,£3l is. lOd. The amount outstandins iu subscriptions is J!10 12e. Tho sum of Jci 13a. Gd. has been added to the Club's War Relief Fund, which now stands at £<i 19s 3d including interest. In addition to this, •Co 10s. was collected on the green for the Red Cross Fund. Seven new members were elected during the season and fourteen resigned. The members' roll, whicli at last annual meeting was 91, is now 87. Tn view of fho fact that most clubs are declining in membership by reason of the war. this is considered sati--1 factory. The death of Jlr. ,1. Avery is recorded with deep regret. Ho had been a member since IS9S, and was highly esteemed by all. Last season was the first year of the new method of playing the pennants, and the committee state it did not proYO,altogether satisfactory. In the opinion of; some members there wero too many Saturday afternoons occupied by these matab.es, which resulted in considerably decreasing the opportunities of meeting other clubs in friendly games, as well as preventing the pleasant Saturday afternoon associations that affords so much satisfaction to members._ Great difficulty was experienced in getting off the various club games, and the committee add some better means of attaining this end must be flpvieed for tlie coming season.
