The- State of New • York is taking a census of residents aged from Iβ to 50, asking for information as to their specinl industrial capabilities. The census will automatically enrol thoso from 18 <to 45 as liable to serve in the Home Militia if called on. LORD NORTHOJFFe" IN AMERICA OUTLINES HIS MISSION. New York, June 11. Lord Xorthcliffe, interviewed on his arrival, said: "i'he War Cabinet has designated me head of 'the British War Mission to the United' States;' ;sind has instructed me to endeavour Id co-ordinate the work of British organisations hero. On June 8 an Amsterdam message, quoting a Berlin report, stated that the Haitian Minister in Berlin had demanded compensation for lives and trade losses due to submarines, and also guarantees against futnro attacks.
