Wedding at Waipukurau,

Tlie wedding took place very quietly in St. Andruw's Uhurcli, Wuipukurau, on Juno tl, of Mr. Robert Pope Fox, third son of lira. G. Fox, of Waipukuruii, vo Miss Flora Gore, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. \V. Sore, also of Waipukurau. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of white crepe lie chine and lace, with a veil and wreath of ornngo blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet of white flowers. Miss M. Goro attendcd_ nor eistcr as bridesmaid, and woro a, frock of white voilo and a black hat trimmed with scarlet berries. Sho carried a lwuquet of antiinm flowers and toliagc. The bridegroom, who is a returned Anssac, was attended by Private .T. Marshall, of the 27th Reinforcements. Mrs. B. Young played the Wedding March as the. bridal party left tlic church, which had I>een prettily decorated for tho occasion. Later in tlio day Mr. and Mrs. Fox left for tho north, tho latter travelling in a navy blue costume with black beaver hat. The monthly meeting of the Welling ton Women's Red Cross Committees is t be held at tho depot in Mercer Street oi Thursday morning next. At the dance -which was givon at th Soldiers' Club in Sydney Street on Sat urday evening for tho Twenty-seventh Re iriforceinents, it was announced that th non-coms, and men of the Thirtieth Re inforeements were to hold a sports gath oring on Wednesday afternoon at Trentham, to which the ladies of the clul were cordially invited. Her sipter is doing stable work and looking after horses on an English estate. Both speak of the shortage of food. Miss Clifford, of Icpperton, according to the "Taranaki Daily News," has been offered three years' free tuition at the Royal College of Music in London. When in this country she secured tho gold medal for the whole of New Zealand in her section at the examinations held last October, the examiner's remarks being of a very eulogistic nature. Evidently Miss Clifford continues to exercise her abilities in nn exceptional manner to have received such an offer. MATTERS OF INTBEBST FROM FAR AND NEAR,

Countess of Liverpool Fund Committee

Tho monthly meeting of tho Countess of Liverpool Fund Committee was held in tho Mayoress's room of the Town Hull yesterday morning. Mrs. Luke (Mayoress) presided, and there- were present:—Mesdames A. Crawford (lion, secretary), ifnrphy, Tripe, Tripp, Myers (assistant sc-c----rctary), lowiisend, Barltrop, Ashendeii, Brice, Laing, Nathan, and Findlay. A vote of congratulation to Mrs. Luke upon tho honour recently conferred upon Mr. Luko was passed unanimously by the committee. Mrs. Luko suitably replied. Mrs. Murphy proposed and Mrs. Myers seconded that Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Aston ho added to the committee. Correspondence was read from Auckland relating to tho proposed stoppage of tho Dominion gift parcels scheme, also telegrams from Otago relating to the same matter. Mrs. Nathan moved tliat Her Excellency tho Countess of Liverpool bo asked to call a conference in this connection, and that in tho meantime the work should bo carried on as iisual. Mrs. Atfhenden seconded the motion, Tvhich was carried. It was resolved that tho Christmas pudding campaign bp started almost at once, in ordor that the men may get them in timo for Christmas. A vote of thanks to Mr. "Foster, manager of the Wellington Meat Company, for his offer to allow the committeo the -use of tho promis&H to mako tho puddings, was passed.
