HORSE THIEF' SENTENCED

At the Supremo Court, William Leahey, convicted of horse-stealing at Taumarunui, and* carnal knowledge of a girl under sixteen years of age, was sentenced to one and two years' imprisonment respectively, the sentences to be concurrent. In the last-mentioned case tho jury added a. rider that the age of consent should be raised, and His Honour concurred.
