A rank outsider in Borsil prevailed in tho Otaki Hack Handicap, while a hot favourite in Altercation failed badly. At the start Kio and Dingle made play from tho favourite. Rio wao not caught as I hey raced" into the straight, but then Uorsil shot out, and in a good finish won ly a neck from Bio, whilo Dingle just brat Pall Mall. Tho rider of the winner hails from Otaki, and got a great reception from the crowd. The consistent Lsidy General again turned up in the Rahui Handicap, in which she narrowly defeated Veto and Lady Black. Hupana was the first out, and led a hunched field into the straight, where Lady Black collared her. In the run home the weight told on the black mare,-and after a good finish Lady General won by a bare length from Veto, while the top weight was a neck away, foHnw-pd by Sea Lord and Interlude, At the start of the Hack Welter Handicap, Black Hill led Snnny Climes and Deeside.
