Ihe Political Labour League' opened its annual conference yesterday. 1 Mr. Doyle, in his presidential address, said •• that despite the checks the Laliour moveinent had received at the State and federal elections, the large attertdtmce of delegates augured will for the future. The ohecks might he good for the movement, because they go rid of certain peo- . pie who were using their brains' and ■ability for their own selfish ends. The party had their so-called secret junta for preserving the ideals of the movement unsullied. These ideals would persist, because the movement was essentially a people's movement. It might be that Labour would shortly be called' upon again to protect itself from the "Kaisers" now ruling the country.—Press Assn. v.
