CITY COUNCIL

A meeting of the Wellington City Council was held last night. There were present the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) and councillors W. T. Hildreth, R. A. Wright, J. Castle, W. J. Thompson, C. B. Norwood, J. 0. Shorland, A. Veiteh, W. 11. Bennett, A. R. Atkinson, M. F. Luckie, W. H. P. Barber, G. Frost, L. M'Kenzie, and J. Godber. • On the recommendation of the Finance Committee it was resolved that the sum of .£IOO be placed on the current year's estimates for the construction of a satisfactory track for the residents of Buckingham Street, Melrose, and that when such work has been completed the Btreet be taken over as a public street, on the condition that any private property which may be required by the City Engineer for the road and the deviation of the road must first of all be dedicated free of charge to the corporation. It was also resolved that AIOO be placed on the estimates for necessary improvements to the roadway at "M'Farlane Street.
