EMPIRE DAY SERVICE

AT TOWN HALL ON SUNDAY. The servico to be held in "honour of Empire Day on Sunday afternoon (June 3) promises to be an interesting one. The Commandants of both edinps (Trentham and Featherston) have advised the secretary (Mr. J. Lewis) that they will allowas many men off to attend the service as is convenient. They are to asseroblo at Bunny Street at 2 p.m., and, headed by the Trentham Camp Band, will parade via Lambton Quay to the Town Hall. Atithe Eeturned Soldiers' Club, on Lambton Quay, they will be joined by a representation of returned soldiers and meu-o'-warsmen, who will be headed by the Patriotic Society's Band. At 2 p.m. theSenior Cadets will assemble at Buckle Street, and will be played down to the hall by the Central Mission Band, whilst the Territorials, headed by the Tramways Band, will gravitate from the eastern end of Courtenay Place. The Wellington Waterside Workers' Band will march from its headquarters in Jervois Quay'direct to the Town Hall, and .will there play selections, alternately wii'h choral selections by a choir, between 2.15 and 2.45 p.m. A choir of between 300 and 400 voices will sing the hymns, assisted by the massed bands. At the service the main address will be delivered by the Rev. A. E. Hunt. Chaplain-Captain. Matheson will offer up prayer, and an appropriate lesson from the Scriptures will be read by the Rev. Mr. Chapman. The musical arrangements will be in the hands of Mr. H. Peek (the society's musical director).
