Itae Rev. C. A. Tisdall, vicar of Ellerslie, has been appointed lion, canon of St. Mary's Cathedral, Parnell. Mr. Tisdall was formerly archdeacon of Tauranga, in the dioceso of Waiapu, aud for 10 years was vicar at Rotorua.

Mr. John Parkinson, of Kaituna, lias received word that his son, Lieut. Leonard Parkinson, has been awarded tho Military Cross. Lieut. Parkinson, who left with the Main' Body in the Canterbury Mounted Rides, was rccontly' wounded, but is improving. Captain H. C. Meiklo has been posted l"o the 30th Reinforcements. Chaplain W. Grigs has been attached 1 , to the 27th Reinforcements. Mr. A. .7. Keaney, officer in charge of tho New Zealand Government National' Provident Fund Office, Auckland, has' left for camp. Air. E. C. O'Connor, of. Wellington, takes temporary charge in Auckland. '■ Mr. J. M'Murray Cole, of Auckland,." lias passed his third; professional exami-. nation in medicine at Edinburgh Univer-; sity. Reinforcements, "was last evening met by. his fellow-workers of tho mechanical department of The Dominion, and presented with a 6ilver spirit kettle,, suitably! inscribed, as a present on the eve of his; •innrriage, and a razor-set as a parting; gift. The presentation was made by Mr.A. Kinnear, who wished the recipient, overy success. Private Potts suitably responded. . ;

Miss 11.I 1 . Evans, of Clyde Quay School, has resigned from the Education Board service after 37 years of work. "When her resignation was before the board yesterday, the chairman referred to. the very valuable, work done by Miss Evans' over such a long period, and expressed' the regret of the,-board that she was leaving the teaching profession. He remarked that Miss Evans had been onft' of tho teachers who had given most: assistance iu tho introduction of kindergarten work in the schools of Welling-' ton. .

Lieut. C. S. Geddis, of Napier, sou of. Mr. W. J. Geddis, managing editor of the "New Zealand Times," has been.promoted to the rank of captain on tho field. He left with the Seventh Mounteds, and is now in command of a-machine-gun company in France. Hftwas wounded in the Somme battle on .September 15.

The Rev. W. T. Eraser, Maori assistant curate of Kotorua, has been appointed chaplain to Narrow Neck Camp. He will report for duty on June 14.
Mr. A. J. Conway, of the secretarial staff of the Defence Minister, who enlisted a few days after his twentieth' birthday some three months ago, went into cauip with the Thirtieth "Reinforce-; ments yesterday. f
At the Wellington Provincial Conference of the Farmers' Union yesterday great praise was bestowed on Mr. T., Moss (Wellington, president of the union) : for the work he lias done for the farmers. Mr. Moss was congratulated on his appointment to the National Efficiency Board, and was made a life honorary member of the union.
