Expect cold and squally Conditions, with heavy rain probable, especially in the nortliera and east coast districts, and snow on higher levels. The weather has been unsettled, with heavy rain at times generally. Floods flavo occurred in some of tfie rivers'-in Westland and in Southland. Stron" westerly winds have given place to southerlies since- Sunday, and the barometer has risen except in the far north, where it is still considerably below normal. D. O.
