COMPELLED TO ATTEND THE RACES
Sir,—Your correspondent ".303" completely evades the charges made by Mr. G. H. Bennett, and endeavours, in the manner usually adopted by those having a weak case, to side-track the real question at issue by abu=e. Mr. Bennett's charge was certainly anything but vague —in fact, it is a mo3t direct accusation, and has evidently been made by. him after mature deliberation, as he is not the man to rush into print, as your correspondent puts it, unless absolutely sure of his ground. His demand for an mquiry is a perfectly reasonable one, and I hare no doubt but that he is prepared to verify 'his accusation, and if the military authorities fail to take this matter up they will receive tne condemnation of all right-thinking people. • Are our boys to be compulsorily marched to ii race meeting, irrespective of \ their wishes, and no notice taken of it?-—I
am, etc., . ' . ' ; FATHER OF A SOLDIER, • Palmerston North, May. 23.. .• ,
