LATEST DEVELOPMENT IN SUBMARINES London, May 21. The fact that- submarines are able to five torpedoes whilst submerged increases their accuracy from 50 to 75 per cent. They are also sowing mines of extraordinary power. In order to conceal the losses of submarines, they return to different ports from those they start from. Mr. T. 0. .Tacobsen, M.P., at Norwood, said: "We have discovered the way the submarine menace can be finished."—A us.-N.Z. Cable Assn. CROCODILE TEARS GERMAN REGRETS TO SWEDEN. Copenhagen, May 21. The German Minister at Stockholm has expressed regret to the Swedish Foreign Minister for the torpedoing of the Swedish grain steamers. The Swedish newspapers warmly attack Germany, and the Radical papers demand the expulsion of Germans living in Sweden.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. DUTCH AND NEUTRAL VESSELS REQUISITIONED (Rec. May 22. 5.30 p.m.) Amsterdam, May 21. The nowspapers state that Britain is requisitioning three Butch and other neutral vessels now lying at British ports, and in which much British capital is invested, on the ground that it is impossible to protect British interests.— A.US.-N.Z. Cable Assn. SPAIN TAKES A STAND INDEMNITY' AND GUARANTEE DEMANDED. (Rec. May 22, 5.30 p.m.) London, May 22. Spain has demanded from Germany an indemnity for the sinking of the Patrico, and a guarantee that Spanish vessels shall not be torpedoed without warning in the safety zone. The Government has also announced that it will break off commercial relations with Germany till a reply has been received.— Renter.
