ON COMMERCIAL TOPICS Rome, Maj 18.. The Allie's Commercial Conference has opened. Lord Gaiuford, on behalf of tho 'British delegates, emphasised Britain's desire that the resources of the Allies should bo co-ordinated. The conference approved resolutions relating to trade marks, the application of ecioncoto industry, healthy of munition workers, employment of disabled soldiers, a system of police to protect trade after the war, a scheme for an Allies' insurance union, and measures to crush the German system of trade espionage and corruption—Keuter. importanTresohitions (Rec. May. 20, 5.5 p.m.) Rome, May 19. The Allied Commercial Conference passed a resolution that the peace treaty should require Germany to replace ships illegally sunk. ' A resolution wae also passed m favour of making compulsory, the adoption of metric weights and measures, and discarding the suggestion of a unified coinage— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
