TO ASSIST IN NEW IMPERIAL DEVELOPMENT. London, May IG. A White Paper, dealing with the British Trade Bajik, states that it will be called the British Trade Corporation. Its general objects will be to assist the development of British trade and industries, procure orders for British manufactures, connect new overseas undertakings, ajid finance contracts in connecr tion therewith. There will be seven directors, with Lord Faringdon (chairman of the Great Central Railway) as chairman. The charter states that the Corporation is to be established for sixty years, and will act as agents for any Governments or authorities, bankers, manufacturers, merchants, and others, carry on business as contractors, merchants, etc., acquire railways, docks, factories, find other concerns, develop the resources of any part of the world, including Britain, obtain concessions, charters, and monopolies, establish an information bureau for business and financial propositions, and undertake experimental research work.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. VENEREAL DISEASE IN THE BRITISH ARMY PUBLIC OPINION THOROUGHLY AROUSED. (l!ec. May 17, 5.50 p.m.) London, May IG. SirSWilliain Osier, M.D., in tho course of a lecture, said that the most recent figures disclosed 98,000 cases of venereal disease in the British Army.
