Mr. J. A. Thomas, LaboimM.P. for Derby, and a member of the British Labour Commission to America, has appealed to American employees and employers to give up the thought of material gain and work for the peace of the common democracy. "It i;ould be suicide," he says, "to. have ,i Labour war internally -while fighting a common foe externally. Women roust take men's places. In the industries of England already 1.125,000 women have replaced men. Labour there gave up the power to strike, but the Government has guaranteed the ivoiter's wages and the care of his family. The autocracy is reaching out to spread its ■ hellish doctrines the world over. Democracy will win, but it can .only win with Labour's aid."
