AMERICA'S FIRST SUBMARINE CHASER FILLING THE GAPS IN THE MERCHANT FLEETS Washington, May 13. The first submarine-chaser, 110 ft. long, has been launched, fivo weeks after the keel was laid. There is evidence that Germany is in possession of a wireless telegraph baso on tho coast of Norway or thereabouts, and that it is utilised for the benefit of submarines.—Renter. .GERMAN REPORT DENIED ALLEGED DAMAGE TO A BRITISH CRUISER. (Rec. May 15, 5.5 p.m.) London, May 14. A German official report asserts that tho British cruiser Cordelia was mined and badly damaged between Englaim and Scotland, and towed to Barrow.
