The German Press continues its daily kite-flying regarding its war aims and peace conditions, which it is evidently desired in a Government quarter to ventilate as fully as possible, before tb6 Chancellor's speech in the Reichstag. In spite of denials, it is again rumoured in Berlin that a Government crisis is near, and may cause a divergence of opinion as to the German peaco aims.—The. "Times." STATEMENT BY THE FOOD DICTATOR Amsterdam, May 11. Dr. Batecki (Food Dictator), speaking in the Reichstag, said he was convinced that the food suppLios would last until tho harvost,_ but the Government must ensure this by careful distribution and the proper cultivation of the soil. England has been forced to copy Germany, but she could not introduce bread tickets on the German scale, because she had insufficient supplies. Germany could expect considerable wheat from Rumania, but it must bo remembered there was a bad harvest in Hungary, and that tho crops in the occupied territory wero generally disappointing. The whole of the Berlin Press has telegraphed to Herr von _ BothmahnHollweg, declaring that owing to shortago of paper and coal it may bo impossible to publish newspapers beginning from next week.
