SUPERANNUATION

» . . THE PUBLIC SERVICE FUND. The quarterly meeting of tho' Public Service Superannuation Board was i-tld at tho boardroom on Thursday, the Hon. Minister of Internal Affairs presiding. Twonty-threo contributors retired under Section 35 of the Act by reason of age or length of service were granted annual allowances totalling £•1287 Bs.; and six contributors retired as medically unfit for duty wore granted allowances aggregating £389 <ls. per annum. Sixteen widows and fourteen children wero granted tho statutory allowances, amounting to £522 per annum. _ A' police constable, who,received injuries whilst in tho execution of his duty, necessitating his retirement as medically unfit, was granted, an additional allowance under Section 29 of ,' the Amcndmont Act, 1909. Tho board refused to grant allowances to five contributors whom it was proposed to retire as medically unfit, and three applications were postponed for further consideration. In consequence of retirements under Section 33; accrued compensation to the amount of £10,376 becamo a.'liability of the Superannuation Fund, and a corresponding relief of the Consolidated Fund. The secretary reported that tlio amount to the credit of the fund on April 30 last was £956,226, an increase of £126,732 over the preceding year.
