A DOMINION, JOURNAL OF

\n important announcement , was made at the meeting of the Technological Section of the Philosophical . Society of Wellington at a meeting held in the Dominion Museum- last evening The announcement was i,o the effect that the Minister of Internal Affairs had authorised the publieatipn of a journal of science for the Dominion, open to contributions of a • scientific character from all sources. A. letter was read at the meeting from Dr. Thompson, the Director of the Museum, invitinc contributions to the journal. A discussion took place on the subject, and the members heartily welcomed the establishment of such a journal, and passed a resolution _ congratulating the Minister upon his action, whilst suggesting that the title bo extended so as to read "The Dominion Journal of Science and Technology." It was felt that the more restricted title. "The Dominion Jouriialof Science," would tend to convey the impression that the journal was only intended, for the publication of matter'of an abstract scientific character, and would therefore tend to discourage intending contributors of technological matter and applied science generally.
